Introducing š—›š˜‚š—¶ š—•š—¶š—» (Direction/Puppetry)

I have always been very fascinated by the interplay between light and shadow and the transient world that they create. Something magical always happen when I play with shadows. I feel that essentially, every object / material has a life of its own (and sometimes very distinct temperament) and I am merely its agent.

In this video, I was testing one of the cutouts for the film one evening in the workshop. Due to the angle of the Sun shining on the cutout, coupled with the angle of the cutout in relation to the floor, there are moments where the cutout and its shadow are facing each other / opposite directions. There is also a lag time in the movement of the cutout and its shadow. Usually, if you shine a light on an object, the object and its shadow will face in the same direction with no time lag. Try it! And if you manage to get the object and its shadow to face the same direction like in the video, share the video with us and let us know how you did it!
